Software Updates

Does you computer suffer any or all of the following symptoms when running the True Poker client: freeze-up, illegal operations, not responding. Here are a few suggestions that may help you achieve better connectivity and interruption free service:

1)  Get all the latest updates for your O/S (Operating System): 

http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com  - For Windows 95 / NT /98 /98SE /ME /2000

http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com  - For Windows XP 

What you want to be sure you have is the 'Critical Updates and Service Packs'. These are the more important ones. You may also wish to browse through the other updates, under Recommended (Windows XP for Windows XP users), and Device Drivers (Driver Updates for Windows XP users). Pending on your internet connection speed, these may take anywhere from a few hours, to as little time as 10 mins. to obtain all of the updates if you have never done so before, as well as a few reboots of your computer, please be patient and take the time to obtain all updates this will ensure that your Microsoft O/S is fully up to date, and should help your entire system and programs run with out problems, or far less of them. 

2)  Have the latest version of True Poker: 

http://www.tpdownload.dynip.com/Install/Update/ClientUpdate.exe 

(select 'run program from current location' or  "Open"  when prompted)

 If you have just downloaded True Poker, you should have the newest version already; however, it never hurts to use the above link to make sure, as well this will replace any bad files that may be on your system related to True Poker.

 3)  Make sure that you also have the latest drivers for your video, and sound card.

These drivers are readily available on the individual vendors sites but you can also try an automatic update via Windows. Windows Update contains a limited number of driver selections, and it is possible that your driver may not be supported.  

To find out what kind of Video card you have simply follow the below instructions.

1. Go to your Control Panel

2. Proceed to the “System” icon

3. Once in System, pending on your operating system:

 

a. Windows 95/98/ME – Once in system go to:

                               i. Device manager

                              ii. Then to Expand the “Sound, Video and game controllers”  - below this will then show your sound card make.

 

b. Windows 2000 / XP – Once in system go to:

                               i. Hardware / Device Manager

                              ii. Then to Expand the “Display Adapters”  - below this will then show your sound card make.

 

 From here you should be able to locate, doing a search, the drivers for your video card on the internet using any search engine.

 

 

To find out what kind of Sound card you have simply follow the below instructions.

 

1. Go to your Control Panel

2. Proceed to the “System” icon

3. Once in System, pending on your operating system:

 

a. Windows 95/98/ME – Once in system go to:

                               i. Device manager

                              ii. Then to Expand the “Sound, Video and game controllers”  - below this will then show your sound card make.

 

b. Windows 2000 / XP – Once in system go to:

                               i. Hardware / Device Manager

                              ii. Then to Expand the “Display Adapters”  - below this will then show your sound card make.

(In the above, the Sound card is an Avance AC97 Audio – built in sound card. Your sound card should be the first, or second in the list), if not sure, simply list all devices listed under Sound, Video and game controllers and email it to support.

 

 From here you should be able to locate, doing a search, the drivers for your sound card on the internet. If not, please contact us - support@truepoker.com
